NBC increases Premier League games on NBC Sports Gold for new season

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> For the 2018/19 season, NBC Sports will put more games behind the NBC Sports Gold paywall, which means fewer games available on television and more that are available exclusively through the $50 per season paid-service. With the new Premier League season scheduled to launch on August 10, sports fans that follow the Premier League will find that the number of games exclusive to NBC Sports Gold will increase by 15% from 130 to 150 per season. Plus, there’ll be an increase in the minimum number of games streamed per club from three to four per season. While the three to four number is likely for big clubs such as Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal, many of the supporters of other Premier League clubs will find that more than 50% of their games will be streamed exclusively via NBC Sports Gold, as we saw last season. Jack Wilshere could still be an effective midfield option for Premier League club

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> Midfielder Jack Wilshere announced earlier in the week that he will be departing Arsenal this summer. Wilshere, who has been with the north London club for 17 years, claimed that he came to the decision following conversations about playing time with new boss Unai Emery. “I can confirm I will be leaving Arsenal Football Club when my contract expires at the end of June,” Wilshere posted on Instagram. “Following a number of extensive conversations with those at the club, and in particular a recent meeting with the new manager Unai Emery, I felt that I was ultimately left with little choice but to make the decision that I have due to purely footballing reasons.” “Following my meeting with the new manager I was made aware that although the reduced contract offer remained, it was made clear to me that my playing time would be significantly reduced should I decide Continue reading "Jack Wilshere could still be an effective midfield option for Premier League club"

Sokratis to Arsenal would make perfect sense

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd">   Multiple reports suggest Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos (let’s just go with Sokratis) will make a move to Arsenal at some point this week. The Gunners are said to be close to a £16 million ($21 million) agreement with the German club for the defender. Sokratis would join former teammates Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan and head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, already in North London. While Sokratis may not be a high-profile, world-class center back, he is a quality defender. His signing would bring experience and stability to a depleted Arsenal defense. The 29-year-old center back has over 30 Champions League appearances and nearly 200 Bundesliga matches under his belt. As a mainstay in Dortmund’s defense over the last five seasons, the Greece international has helped BVB collect the German Cup during the 2016/17 campaign.

As far as qualities go, Sokratis is a solid tackler, a Continue reading "Sokratis to Arsenal would make perfect sense"

Arsenal new away shirt revealed for 2018/19 season [PHOTOS]

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> It’s hard to describe what Arsenal’s away shirt for the 2018/19 season looks like. You can browse through the leaked images below (courtesy of FootyHeadlines), but to put them into words is quite difficult given how unique and dark the design is. The closest I can describe it as is dark modern art. It appears that Puma and Arsenal wanted a dark kit but with a difference. The very dark navy kit features a red textured design that looks unlike anything else we’ve seen. It’s supposedly the last season that Puma will be designing and manufacturing the Arsenal kits, so it appears to be a strange choice for the away shirt in what could be their final season as partners. Still, perhaps this Arsenal away shirt design will look better in person? We will have to wait and see.

Arsenal new third shirt revealed for 2018/19 season [PHOTOS]

Arsenal’s third shirt for the 2018/19 season will be a turquoise jersey with navy trim. Designed by Puma, the third shirt will herald a new chapter in the history of Arsenal Football Club now that Unai Emery has taken charge to replace Arsene Wenger. In the history of the Gunners, the club had an away jersey from 1982 to 1983 that was green and was designed and manufactured by Umbro. The collar of the Arsenal third shirt looks like a polo-shirt, while the sleeves retain a similar hoop design to the just-released Arsenal home shirt for the 2018/19 season. Here are the photos of the new Arsenal third shirt:

Liverpool new third shirt revealed for 2018/19 season [PHOTOS]

Leaked images of Liverpool’s third shirt for the 2018/19 season reveal that the design from New Balance will feature a unique pattern. Released by the experts at FootyHeadlines, the leaked photos and designs show a one-of-a-kind design that will be very interesting to see what it looks like in person and on television. Liverpool’s third shirt for the 2018/19 season has a dizzying design. It reminds me a little of the album cover for Dazzleships by the Liverpool pop-band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Here’s what we know so far:

Man United finishing in second is a sad indictment of the Premier League

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> With the Premier League season coming to an end, Manchester United clinched their spot in second place with 78 points. It’s the most points the Red Devils have earned since the dismissal of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. Hats off to Mourinho for this accomplishment. But if a casual football fan sat down and watched an entire United match this season, they’d surely be scratching their heads or falling asleep. At the very least, they’d wonder how they finished so high in the table. It’s a straightforward query: How on earth did Manchester United finish in second place? Yes, they have a squad stocked with talent. But the eyeball test leaves something to be desired.

Playing not to lose

The reality is that Mourinho’s tactics completely revolve around defense. It’s about not conceding goals. Forget about winning. Let’s play not to lose. Unfortunately, for the fans and players, this strategy

4 reasons why Arsenal fans should feel optimistic about next season

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd">

The 2017/18 season was not exactly a great campaign for Arsenal fans. The Gunners did reach the final of the League Cup and the Europa League semis. Ultimately, they finish the season with no trophies. Unless we are counting the Community Shield, we still have their worst league position in over 20 years. Despite finishing outside of the top four, which is miraculously now considered nearly as good as a trophy. Gooners should feel somewhat optimistic heading into the 2018/19 season.

New Manager

With Arsene Wenger walking away after more than two decades at the helm at Arsenal, the Gunners will get a new boss for the first time since 1996. To put this in perspective, midfielder Alex Iwobi was born in the same year as Wenger arrived to the north London outfit. It’s safe to say that the Frenchman’s departure has been met with a variety of opinions. Nevertheless,

Bakayoko shows promise in Chelsea win over Liverpool

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> A crucial win for Chelsea on Sunday has ensured a battle for top four honors. The win over Liverpool keeps hope alive heading into the final week of the season. Meanwhile, Tottenham suffered a shock defeat to relegation-bound West Brom. The Blues close the gap to just two points, three points behind the Reds with a game in hand. Liverpool were clearly feeling the after-effects of their hard-fought Champions League semi-final clash with Roma. Despite going through to the final, Jurgen Klopp’s side lacked sharpness at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea taking full advantage. Antonio Conte opted for a midfield-three to counter the Reds’ devastating attack. With Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and Teimoue Bakayoko deputizing the middle of the park. This strategy worked wonders for the Italian as the home side’s narrow shape and numbers in the center of the park nullified their opponent’s attacking prowess. Leaving them restricted to crosses
