Liverpool new third shirt revealed for 2018/19 season [PHOTOS]

Leaked images of Liverpool’s third shirt for the 2018/19 season reveal that the design from New Balance will feature a unique pattern. Released by the experts at FootyHeadlines, the leaked photos and designs show a one-of-a-kind design that will be very interesting to see what it looks like in person and on television. Liverpool’s third shirt for the 2018/19 season has a dizzying design. It reminds me a little of the album cover for Dazzleships by the Liverpool pop-band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Here’s what we know so far:

Man United finishing in second is a sad indictment of the Premier League

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> With the Premier League season coming to an end, Manchester United clinched their spot in second place with 78 points. It’s the most points the Red Devils have earned since the dismissal of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. Hats off to Mourinho for this accomplishment. But if a casual football fan sat down and watched an entire United match this season, they’d surely be scratching their heads or falling asleep. At the very least, they’d wonder how they finished so high in the table. It’s a straightforward query: How on earth did Manchester United finish in second place? Yes, they have a squad stocked with talent. But the eyeball test leaves something to be desired.

Playing not to lose

The reality is that Mourinho’s tactics completely revolve around defense. It’s about not conceding goals. Forget about winning. Let’s play not to lose. Unfortunately, for the fans and players, this strategy

4 reasons why Arsenal fans should feel optimistic about next season

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd">

The 2017/18 season was not exactly a great campaign for Arsenal fans. The Gunners did reach the final of the League Cup and the Europa League semis. Ultimately, they finish the season with no trophies. Unless we are counting the Community Shield, we still have their worst league position in over 20 years. Despite finishing outside of the top four, which is miraculously now considered nearly as good as a trophy. Gooners should feel somewhat optimistic heading into the 2018/19 season.

New Manager

With Arsene Wenger walking away after more than two decades at the helm at Arsenal, the Gunners will get a new boss for the first time since 1996. To put this in perspective, midfielder Alex Iwobi was born in the same year as Wenger arrived to the north London outfit. It’s safe to say that the Frenchman’s departure has been met with a variety of opinions. Nevertheless,

Bakayoko shows promise in Chelsea win over Liverpool

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> A crucial win for Chelsea on Sunday has ensured a battle for top four honors. The win over Liverpool keeps hope alive heading into the final week of the season. Meanwhile, Tottenham suffered a shock defeat to relegation-bound West Brom. The Blues close the gap to just two points, three points behind the Reds with a game in hand. Liverpool were clearly feeling the after-effects of their hard-fought Champions League semi-final clash with Roma. Despite going through to the final, Jurgen Klopp’s side lacked sharpness at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea taking full advantage. Antonio Conte opted for a midfield-three to counter the Reds’ devastating attack. With Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante and Teimoue Bakayoko deputizing the middle of the park. This strategy worked wonders for the Italian as the home side’s narrow shape and numbers in the center of the park nullified their opponent’s attacking prowess. Leaving them restricted to crosses

Chelsea new home shirt revealed for 2018/19 season [PHOTOS]

Chelsea’s home shirt for the 2018/19 season will be a fresh new look that will hopefully be the start of a new and brighter chapter for the Blues after a difficult season this year. Featuring a Nike design, Chelsea’s familiar blue color returns but this time it’s with a unique effect of red and blue splashes across the front and back of the shirt. The look is a breath of fresh air that adds a motion effect to the new Chelsea home shirt. With the club founded in 1905, the inside collar of the shirt mentions this fact. The 2018/19 Premier League season kicks off on August 11. Meanwhile, it’s expected that Chelsea will officially unveil their new kit later this month.

Premier League’s best XI using players outside of the ‘big six’ clubs

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> When the annual PFA Team of the Year is announced, it is certain to contain players almost exclusively from the top six Premier League teams. In fact, there has only been one player from outside of the ‘big six’ clubs to be included in the last two Premier League teams of the season (Romelu Lukaku formerly of Everton). With this in mind, let’s look at this season’s best Premier League XI. Using players not currently with one of the six major clubs.

GK – Nick Pope

The Burnley keeper has more clean sheets (11) than any other Premier League keeper outside of the big six clubs. Not only are his clean sheets impressive, Pope has only allowed 28 goals in his 32 league matches this season. The 28 goals conceded is better than Chelsea’s Thibault Courtois and Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris. Pope also ranks high in saves (6th), high claims (1st), Continue reading "Premier League’s best XI using players outside of the ‘big six’ clubs"

Sky Sports gambles on Premier League after losing LaLiga rights in UK and Ireland

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> This week, English premium sports channel Sky Sports lost out to Eleven Sports to show Spanish LaLiga football. The news feels like a bombshell to its subscribers. Sky Sports has been losing ground for a few years now when it comes to showing soccer. The corporation looks to be finally admitting that enough is enough when it comes to spending billions of dollars on soccer TV rights. However, LaLiga was costing Sky just $30m dollars a season. Compare this with the billion dollars they spend on the Premier League, and it becomes apparent that purse strings are being tightly closed shut.

What is the deal with Sky bailing on Spanish football?

The league has arguably been the best in Europe since the turn of the century. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have won the Champions League nine times between them. We have witnessed the emergence of Lionel Messi at Barcelona,

Tottenham emerges from Arsenal shadow but faces similar stadium issues

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> Even if you have no love for Tottenham, it’s been hard to overlook just how good the team have been under Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino over the past couple of seasons. He has drilled the team into hard work on and off the pitch. Bought some wonderful players. And installed a winning mentality to a team that have had a history of being in the shadow of their neighbors, Arsenal. And, it’s that last line that resonates, because Tottenham are not in the shadow of the Gunners anymore. Make no mistake, Tottenham have pushed on and will once again finish the season ahead of their eternal rivals. Something, that only two seasons ago, they had not achieved since Arsene Wenger had been coach. Of course, the one lingering doubt on everyone’s minds is that as good as Tottenham have been they have, trophy wise, nothing to show for it. Arsenal must focus on defense during summer transfer window

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd">

Do we need to change everything?

Arsenal’s sixth place position in the Premier League table is unfamiliar to both club and supporters. There is an assumption that there needs to be wholesale changes at the club. This is not exactly the case. Despite the north London club’s position in the table, the Gunners have been sufficient in attack. This is even more the case since the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubamyang in January. Since the Gabon international made the record £56 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund, the Gunners have averaged two goals per game during Premier League play. That sort of goal output should, theoretically, be enough to win a fair share of matches. While Arsenal have lost four of Aubameyang’s first eight league matches, it has very little to do with the offense. During these eight Premier League games, the Gunners have allowed 11 total goals. When looking at the

Why Chelsea need to pick Olivier Giroud ahead of Alvaro Morata

< !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd"> During Saturday’s early kickoff against Southampton, Chelsea were two goals down with less than a quarter of the game remaining. A lackluster first 45 minutes was a perfect reflection of their general dip in performance. The Blues were second best for large parts of the game. However, a moment of inspiration from Frenchman Olivier Giroud lifted the spirits of the players with the match ending in a 3-2 victory for the west London side. The result keeps their slim chances of making it into the fourth Champions League spot alive. The former Arsenal striker provided the late winner with a clinical finish after Eden Hazard had brought Conte’s side back on level terms just minutes before.

Yet another disappointing display from Morata

Giroud was brought on in the 61st minute for the hapless Morata. The Spanish international was timid at best, and did not cause any sort of discomfort for Continue reading "Why Chelsea need to pick Olivier Giroud ahead of Alvaro Morata"
